Helicopters of the Armed Forces of BiH extinguish fires in the municipalities of Zavidovići and Kladanj

(Patria) - Immediately upon receiving the request and approval from the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a helicopter of the Armed Forces of BiH type UH-1H-II Huey 2 was engaged on Sunday afternoon, August 25, 2024, in extinguishing a fire near Zavidovići.



The engagement of the helicopter of the Air Force and Air Defense Brigade of the AF BiH near Zavidovići continues today, August 26. Another helicopter of the AF BiH is joining the firefighting efforts near Konjuh, in the municipality of Kladanj, today.

This summer, helicopters of the AF BiH have been engaged in extinguishing more than 10 open-space fires in the areas of Bugojno, Drvar, Mostar, Žepče, Foča, Kakanj, and Konjic. During July and August, in aerial firefighting operations, helicopters of the AF BiH achieved more than 70 flight hours, and with 317 bucket drops, they discharged 283,500 liters of water onto the fires.

“During this fire season, 98 percent of all firefighting in our country is credited to the helicopter crews of the Armed Forces of BiH. They are the heroes and pride of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said BiH Minister of Defense Zukan Helez on that occasion.
