(Patria) - A helicopter with a crew from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia will be stationed in Trebinje, in the south of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this summer and will be used for firefighting.
This was announced after today's meeting of the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, and Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, held in Trebinje.
The stationing of the helicopter is an integral part of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two ministries during the tourist season, which the ministers signed earlier today.
Cooperation was already agreed upon at the so-called "All-Serbian Assembly" held on June 8.
Karan and Dačić agreed that the memorandum will contribute to the operational cooperation of the members of the two ministries during the tourist season.
Dačić, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, announced that the helicopter with its crew will be stationed in Trebinje until September, with the possibility of extension if needed.
He added that the goal is to help prevent fires in this area, not only in Republika Srpska but also in the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that a series of other joint activities will follow in the interest of the citizens of Republika Srpska and Serbia.
- I will just say that in the past, let's say, five years until today, there have been more than 3,500 fires in Republika Srpska, of which almost a third were forest fires - said Karan.
