(Patria) - The RS Helicopter Service today evacuated an eight-month-old sick baby and her mother from the snowed-in village of Lokvari on Manjača, as well as a 68-year-old man from Agino Selo.
The baby and mother were taken to the University Clinical Center of the RS.
Today, aid was also delivered by helicopter to the village of Dubica near Mrkonjić Grad.
The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the help of heavy machinery, managed to clear the road from Drvar to the village of Martin Brod, which had been cut off from the rest of the country for days after heavy snowfall. Machinery from the organization Pomozi.ba is also on the ground, working to open roads in Poljice to the homes of the Matić and Ćućuz families.
The director of the RS Helicopter Service, Boban Kusturić, told RTRS that both evacuations were carried out successfully and that operations to deliver food and medicine to affected areas continued throughout the day.
“We respond to calls. We will likely work tomorrow and the day after to help everyone in need, just let us know the exact location and what is necessary. Priority will be given to those with health issues, especially children,” said Kusturić.
