MOSTAR, (Patria) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that tomorrow in Mostar it will not organize the viewing of the World Cup match between Croatia and England, given that July 11, when the 23rd anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica is marked, has been declared a Day of Mourning.
Given the exceptionally high public interest in Mostar for watching the World Cup match between Croatia and England, the HDZ stated that due to the declaration of a Day of Mourning on the anniversary of what they described as "the tragedy in Srebrenica, July 11, 2018," it is not possible to obtain approval for a public gathering and traffic suspension at the intersection of Stjepan Radić Street and King Tomislav Street in front of the Projektant building.
"Respecting the legal obligation to observe and behave on the Day of Mourning, paying tribute to all victims of the Homeland War in Bosnia and Herzegovina and war tragedies, HVIDR-a Mostar and the City Committee of HDZ BiH Mostar will not organize the public viewing of the match Croatia – England, which was supposed to take place tomorrow," announced the City Committee of HDZ BiH Mostar.
"We believe that tomorrow there will be respect for the victims of the war tragedy from the past, but also respect for the feeling of hope, faith and happiness due to the global success of Croats with the aim of building a better future, and encouragement to everyone that even small states and small nations can achieve top results and global successes. Together we cheer for our Vatreni to victory with the belief that we will cheer for them together again on Sunday," the HDZ concludes.
