The English version of the fourth feature-length documentary film produced by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia Outreach Programme – Crimes Before the Tribunal: Central Bosnia – premiered at the Hague Institute for Global Justice.
The screening was attended by diplomats, representatives of international and non-governmental organizations, members of the academic community, government officials, and students, reports the Patria News Agency.
This documentary film deals with cases tried before the International Tribunal concerning crimes committed in the Lašva Valley and surrounding areas from 1993 to 1995. Through victim testimonies, interviews with trial participants, and documentary materials used as evidence in court, this film addresses the investigations, prosecutions, and judgments for war crimes committed in Central Bosnia.
In his introductory statement, the Registrar of the ICTY and MICT, John Hocking, stated:
"The aim of this documentary film is to make the ICTY proceedings more accessible to all those interested in our work, as well as to strengthen the crucial link between the International Tribunal and the citizens of the former Yugoslavia."
Ahmed Halilović, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Netherlands, subsequently emphasized the importance of being able to reach the ICTY's conclusions in a simple and understandable way:
"Presenting the work of the ICTY in a concise and comprehensive manner allows the citizens of my country to better understand often complex legal issues and to actually see how justice is served."
This documentary film is available in English and Bosnian, Croatian, or Serbian and can be viewed on the International Tribunal's YouTube channel. The entire series of documentary films produced by the Outreach Programme can be viewed on the International Tribunal's website, the Tribunal announced.
