Hasanović: We only care about the well-being of citizens, we are ready to lead protests

(Patria) - Through a short statement consisting of four sentences, BAGS-Energotehnika, a company majority-owned by the Canton of Sarajevo, informed the residents of Vogošća today that due to a lack of fuel - heating oil, it is switching to "warm mode" of operation, without clear answers to citizens on how, why, and for what reason they were left without heating during the coldest period, it was announced from the Municipality of Vogošća.

Vogošća residents left without heating in freezing temperatures

(Patria) - The company BAGS Energotehnika informed its users today after 4 PM with a statement about the cessation of heat energy supply to the residents of Vogošća.

- To say that we were unpleasantly surprised by BAGS-Energetika's announcement that they are suspending heating for citizens and institutions in Vogošća during the coldest days would be too mild a statement.

Such a decision by the management of the company majority-owned by the KS Government is shocking, but hardly surprising - said the mayor of Vogošća, Migdad Hasanović.

He emphasizes that various games and tricks have been played around this company for a long time, and the citizens of Vogošća are paying the price.

- Although we have no jurisdiction or authority over this company, we clearly and loudly say that this will not be allowed. Gentlemen, play your games, but do not play with the lives and health of the people of Vogošća - stated Hasanović.

The events with heating in Vogošća in the last two years have long ceased to be coincidental.

- We do not want to speculate about what hidden interests are involved. That does not interest us. We are interested in the well-being of our citizens, and it is symptomatic that heating is being shut off at a time when unprecedented freezing temperatures are being announced.

We don't care if it's the weekend or night hours. Gentlemen from the management of BAGS Energetika, Mr. Prime Minister, gentlemen from the Government of the Canton of Sarajevo, ministers, you must be aware that the citizens of Vogošća, some of them sick and elderly, some with small children, are entering an uncertain night and uncertain days.

There is no time for waiting and negotiations. That time has passed. We don't care who bears more responsibility and who is stubborn with whom. We care that heating is provided to the citizens and we will not stop until that is done.

The Municipality of Vogošća is not only ready to support the justified protests of our fellow citizens, but we are also ready to organize them and put ourselves at their forefront. This is a matter of basic living conditions for the citizens of Vogošća.

For the Municipality of Vogošća, there is no dilemma, we are ready to do everything to restore heating to homes, and we have no greater priority than that at this moment. So far, we have tried everything to overcome this problem.

We have met with officials, made conclusions at the Municipal Council, confronted all actors of this agony, all with the aim of finding a solution that will not harm the citizens.

We are aware that key decisions regarding the operation of this system are not made at the municipal level, but that will not prevent us from continuing with pressure and demands until heating is stabilized.

We call upon and challenge the officials and those responsible to react urgently before we face consequences for the health and lives of our citizens.

The Municipality of Vogošća clearly stands with the citizens of Vogošća and we will not allow anyone to play with them - added Mayor Hasanović.
