The names of the new members of the Islamic Community Assembly in BiH should be verified on Monday, December 29, writes the BiH news agency Patria.
During December, the Islamic Community in BiH held elections at the level of local communities, regional councils, and the Assembly of the Islamic Community, which is the highest representative and legislative body of the Islamic Community in BiH.
The Assembly of the Islamic Community has 87 members, who are elected in electoral districts. This year, they were elected for the term from 2014 to 2018.
Hasan Čengić is mentioned as the new president of the Islamic Community Assembly, who should replace Safet Softić in this position.
However, in a statement to the Patria agency, Čengić said that he has not received any official notification about this, so he has nothing to say about his potential appointment as head of the Islamic Community Assembly at this moment.
Čengić is one of the more experienced Bosniak politicians and one of the closest associates of the first President of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the late Alija Izetbegović, writes Patria.
