(Patria) - Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice presidential running mate in the presidential race, AP confirmed.
She will officially introduce him later today at a rally in Philadelphia.
Harris and Walz will then begin touring federal states in the coming days, with planned stops in Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada.
The BBC writes that Tim Walz (60) brings a friendly, open, and sharp approach to Republicans and comes with an impressive resume. He is a school teacher, football coach, and member of the National Guard before entering politics.
Walz was born in rural Nebraska, where he worked on a farm and hunted for years and joined the National Guard at 17. He served in that volunteer force for 24 years.
His father, a public school administrator, encouraged him to join the army before he died of lung cancer when Walz was 19.
Armed with degrees, Walz took a one-year teaching position in China during the Tiananmen Square massacre. He later went on a honeymoon to that country with his wife Gwen Whipple and organized summer educational trips to China for American students.
