Haris Medunjanin says goodbye to BiH national team

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Long-time BiH national team player Haris Medunjanin entered the game in the 60th minute against Senegal, replacing Gojko Cimirot, and these were his last minutes in the jersey with the national emblem.

- We played very well, especially in the first half. We had good chances and it's a shame Višća didn't score. In the second half, we controlled the game, they weren't dangerous. This team has good players - Medunjanin said after the match.

Medunjanin later announced that the match against Senegal was his last in the national team jersey.

- This is my last match in the jersey of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I thought about it for a long time and made this difficult decision. We have to think about the future too, there are many good players here. The fact that we didn't qualify for the World Cup is a sign that we, the slightly older players like myself, need to give the younger guys a chance, and I wish them success in the coming period - concluded Medunjanin.

The Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina thanked Haris Medunjanin for everything he has done for our national team and wished him much luck and success in the continuation of his professional career.

Haris Medunjanin was born on March 8, 1985, in Sarajevo, but he never played for any domestic club in his career. He started his career at Dutch AZ Alkmaar, and also played for Sparta Rotterdam, Valladolid, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Gaziantepsor, Deportivo La Coruña, and currently plays for Philadelphia Union.

In the youth categories, he played for the Dutch youth national team, and later opted to play for BiH. In the national team jersey, he played 60 matches in which he scored nine goals.
