(Patria) - Hamas has stated that it remains open to reaching a ceasefire agreement with Israel, but has not accepted former US President Donald Trump's proposal for a 60-day suspension of the conflict.
Hamas official Taher al-Nunu told the Associated Press that the militant group is "ready and serious about reaching an agreement" and emphasized that they would accept any initiative "that clearly leads to a complete end of the war".
Trump had previously stated that Israel had already agreed to a 60-day ceasefire and expressed hope that Hamas would do the same, saying they "won't get a better offer".
A Hamas delegation is scheduled to meet with Egyptian and Qatari mediators in Cairo today to discuss the current proposal.
