Halilagić: Mines are not just economic entities, but the backbone of the energy system and the livelihood of thousands of families

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton (TK) Irfan Halilagić and Minister of Economy Edin Duraković attended today the ceremonial celebration of Miners' Day and the 140th anniversary of the operation of the coal mine "Kreka", one of the most significant symbols of economic and social development of TK.

As part of the celebration of this jubilee, flowers were laid at the memorial "Husinski rudar" in Tuzla, followed by a ceremonial academy in the Great Hall of the Bosnian Cultural Center in Tuzla.



Speaking with miners and guests, Prime Minister Halilagić, on behalf of the Government of TK and his own behalf, congratulated December 21 - Miners' Day, emphasizing that few dates carry as much symbolism, respect and emotion as this day.

He stressed that mining and miners have been the backbone of the economy and identity of Tuzla Canton for centuries, and that the rights won during the Husino Rebellion are a permanent obligation of all institutions.

Special emphasis was placed on the role of the Government of Tuzla Canton as a partner to the mines.

- The Government of Tuzla Canton is a friend and partner to the mines, and we prove this with concrete actions. We have enabled several rescheduling of obligations, and just a few days ago, we enabled the coal mine "Kreka" to repay unpaid concession fees, in the amount of over 5.7 million KM, through installment payments. Our goal is stable operations and long-term sustainability of the mines - said Prime Minister Halilagić.



He emphasized that the Government of TK has an obligation to protect the public interest.

- Partnership implies responsibility. The government helps to repay debts, but no one has the right to forgive the debt to the citizens of Tuzla Canton - said Halilagić.

He added that mines are not just economic entities, but the backbone of the energy system and the livelihood of thousands of families, expressing confidence that the coming period will bring more investment, modernization of production and a better position for miners.

- Because of everything you do and the conditions in which you do it, miners deserve special respect. Once again, from the heart - miners, good luck - concluded Prime Minister Halilagić.
