Hajraga Kulo was the first police officer to give his life for the defense of Sarajevo

He was born on May 1, 1965, in the village of Petrovići, Municipality of Olovo.

He became an active police officer in 1986. Colleagues and friends remember Hajraga Kulo as an honest, virtuous, and brave police officer who gave his life for the defense of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes the Patria news agency.

Kulo was posthumously awarded the “Golden Police Badge”.

Instead of celebration and joy, Sarajevo's Liberation Day, April 6, 1992, turned into a day of mass crime against the city, but also a day of popular uprising and resistance.

April 6, 1992, was just a continuation of the drama that began on April 4 with the division of MUP special forces.

On the night of April 4-5, 1992, in Krtelji near Ilidža, where the base of the Special Unit of the then Republican MUP of BiH was located, Hajraga Kulo was treacherously killed from an ambush while encountering a checkpoint set up by Serb paramilitary units.

He was an active police officer of the then Public Security Station Novi Grad Sarajevo. Hajraga Kulo thus became the first police officer to give his life for the defense of Sarajevo.
