Hajdarević: Tram driver was not under the influence of alcohol, witness from Konjic also questioned

(Patria) - Chief Cantonal Prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office Meliha Dugalija and Commissioner of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior Fatmir Hajdarević address the public regarding the investigation into the tram accident in which Erdoan Morankić lost his life, and several people were injured, including a girl, Ella Jovanović, who sustained serious injuries.

Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević began his address by presenting the chronology of events – from the report to the completion of the investigation. The operations center, as he stated, was notified of the accident by citizens, after which police patrols were dispatched to the scene. It was determined that a tram, moving from the Railway Station, had derailed.

"A pedestrian born in 2003 from Brčko was killed, and his death was confirmed by a doctor. Three people sustained minor bodily injuries. Investigators immediately informed the duty prosecutors about the accident. Experts in traffic engineering, two in mechanical engineering, and two in medical science were engaged at the scene of the traffic accident. The tram was transported to the GRAS depot," said Hajdarević, among other things.

The commissioner stated that the driver was breathalyzed and it was determined that he had not consumed alcohol. The driver was subsequently taken into custody, and the commissioner said that no unauthorized persons were present during his questioning.

"I am saying this because of the stories that the director of GRAS was there," said Hajdarević.

He added that a witness who was on the tram was questioned in Konjic, and subsequently another person in Sarajevo, who is also a witness.

We remind you that on February 12 at 12:02 PM, the tram, while turning towards the stop near the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, derailed, hit the tram stop, and came to a stop partially on the lane of the main road next to the stop.

The investigation in this case is being conducted by the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office.
