(Patria) - Prof. Dr. Zlatko Hadžidedić informed the public that he is leaving the "Academic Initiative for Affirming the Name 'Bosnian'", in which he served as vice-president.
"The reason for leaving is the continuous practices of the president, Prof. Dr. Suad Kurtćehajić, which harm the idea of the Bosnian nation and undermine the credibility of the Initiative.
The agreement within the bodies was clear: Bosnian identity must not exclude different ethnic identities. Unfortunately, Kurtćehajić regularly violates these principles in his public appearances, thereby hindering the acceptance of Bosnian identity among citizens and compromising the inclusive vision of Bosnianness.
Such a practice – in which Bosnians are not allowed to simultaneously feel like Bosniaks, Serbs, Croats, and members of other ethnic communities – undermines the very idea of the Bosnian nation and makes it unacceptable for many citizens.
Continued participation in the work of an Initiative that daily violates agreements and disregards fundamental values has become unsustainable.
The decision to leave was made with the aim of preserving the authentic and inclusive vision of Bosnian identity, which is invaluable and must not be compromised by anyone's exclusivity," stated Prof. Dr. Zlatko Hadžidedić.
