(Patria) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says he remains "deeply alarmed by the continued military escalation in the Middle East between Israel and Iran".
"I reiterate my call for an immediate de-escalation leading to a ceasefire. I strongly appeal to all parties to avoid further internationalization of the conflict. Any further military intervention could have enormous consequences, not only for those involved but for the entire region and for international peace and security as a whole.
"Diplomacy remains the best and only way to address concerns regarding Iran's nuclear program and regional security issues."
