Thick smoke covers parts of Sarajevo, firefighters on standby, Krupačke stijene landfill on fire

(Patria) - Parts of Ilidža, Stup, Dobrinja have been covered in smoke since this morning, and breathing is difficult due to the large amount of smoke.

The Professional Fire Brigade of the Sarajevo Canton told Patria that they have received calls from several citizens who warned about the smoke, and they are aware of the situation that there is smoke in the lower part of the city, but they have no report of an active fire anywhere in Sarajevo.

"There was a fire in Bojnik yesterday, but now we have no information about a fire anywhere. The smoke started spreading this morning at 3 AM," said the PVB KS.

We remind you that firefighters intervened last night on Vratnik below Bijela tabija where a fire broke out after fireworks were set off. The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries.

This morning, the Krupačke stijene Fire Unit announced that the Krupačke stijene landfill is on fire.
