Cities and municipalities, local communities and associations from Zenica-Doboj Canton receive 514,000 KM for tourism infrastructure projects

(Patria) - Minister of Economy of Zenica-Doboj Canton Samir Šibonjić signed contracts for co-financing of tourism infrastructure and superstructure projects with representatives of municipalities and cities, local communities and associations of citizens from this canton, with a total value of 514,000 KM.

Minister Šibonjić stated that strengthening tourism is one of the priorities of this ministry and that the beneficiaries were selected through a public call, and for the first time, associations of citizens were also eligible to participate, according to the press release from the ZDK Press Service.

- We have recognized the enormous potential and we will strive to continue providing maximum support and together strengthen the economy of ZDK. We are known for various industries, and we will certainly become known for tourism as well - said Minister Šibonjić, adding that the Tourism Board of ZDK was recently formed after ten years.

The association "Guardians of the Bosnian Crown Bobovac Mijakovići - Vareš" applied with the project of building a auto camp at the well-known picnic area Luke near Bobovac, and the project is planned to be realized this autumn.

- The plan is to build one of the largest camp locations in ZDK for 50 vehicles - said the representative of this association, Šaban Imširović.

In Kraljeva Sutjeska, on the road to the royal town of Bobovac, the association "Alternative" will build a picnic area. Maksuma Topalović points out that this is the first significant financial support from a domestic institution for the projects of this non-governmental organization, which has been involved in environmental protection since 1998.

- A large number of visitors choose to reach Bobovac on foot through the beautiful landscape, but there are few resting places on these hiking trails. I hope this will improve the overall quality of our tourist offer - said Topalović.

Two mountaineering societies also received funds - PSD "Poštar" Zenica and PD "Tajan 1929" Zavidovići. "Poštar" will build an adrenaline park and zip lines on Mount Hum, near the mountain lodge "Jedinci".

- Our desire is for this to be a gathering place for families, athletes, and nature lovers. ZDK abounds with natural beauties and historical locations, and this is the right path that the Ministry of Economy and the Government of ZDK are taking - said the representative of PSD "Poštar", Jasmin Imamović. PD "Tajan" started building the Mašice mountain lodge last year, near the lake of the same name, and will continue the construction of the facility with the support of the Ministry of Economy.

- We built the ground floor with our own funds, and the approved funds should be sufficient for the construction of the second floor and the roof. I am pleased that the Government of ZDK has supported tourism projects, as this was not the practice in previous years - said Jusuf Čahtarević from PD "Tajan" Zavidovići.

Contracts were signed with 11 associations of citizens, the cities of Zavidovići and Visoko, the municipalities of Olovo, Kakanj, Maglaj and Doboj Jug, and the local communities of Novi Šeher Maglaj, Gostović and Branioci Grada Zavidovići, and Bobare Drinčići Blaževci and Raduša Tešanj.
