Citizens demand list of MPs claiming "white bread" payments

A large number of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina have requested the public disclosure of the names of state MPs who, upon the expiry of their mandate, have applied to receive so-called "white bread" payments, i.e., salaries for the entire next year, even though they will no longer be state MPs, writes the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

The Administrative Commission of the House of Representatives of the Federation of BiH has received about 50 requests from former MPs by Monday who have expressed their desire to receive "white bread," which will cost the state 30,000 KM for each of them.

According to current legal regulations in BiH, former state MPs at all levels of government are allowed to receive a salary for one year after the expiry of their mandate, if they have not returned to the jobs they held before entering politics after their mandate expired, writes Patria.

In recent years, when BiH has been hit by a severe economic crisis, citizens have often asked the authorities to abolish "white bread," but this has not happened so far.

Only Jasmin Duvnjak (SDA), a former MP in the House of Representatives of the FBiH, publicly renounced "white bread" yesterday, writes Patria.
