Citizens of Orašje in traditional march for Srebrenica

(Patria) - The citizens of Orašje also paid tribute to the victims of Srebrenica with a traditional gathering and march from Orašje to Srebrenica under the message "Let it not be forgotten".

The gathering was organized by the Medžlis of the Islamic Community of Orašje and the Association "Women of Orašje".

With dignity, in silence, prayer, and thoughts with the killed and surviving Srebrenica victims, numerous citizens of Orašje, including many children and young people, marked this sad day.

- Orašje is truly an example; for years we have traditionally gathered for a march through our town. I am truly proud that today we will hold this march together with our fellow citizens, our youth, our children.

I am proud that we gather in this way and spread the message that Srebrenica should never happen to anyone again - said hafiz Redžo ef. Sivić, the chief imam of the Medžlis of the Islamic Community of Orašje.

On the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, a very emotional and striking photo exhibition of the same name was opened in Orašje.

- I have gone to the collective funerals and Peace Marches in Srebrenica many times, so I had the opportunity to document certain moments that show all the suffering and pain of that people during the burials and organization of those funerals - says the author of the exhibition, Asmir Šadić.

- Out of gratitude, and also because of the 30th anniversary, we decided to set up a selection from his large body of work created at the Srebrenica Memorial Center. We decided to choose 30 photographs - says Marko Matolić, librarian at the Center for Culture Orašje.

The exhibition is organized by the Center for Culture Orašje, and it will be on display and open to visitors until July 21 at the Ivo Gregurević Cultural Center.
