City of Sarajevo paid tribute to the brave Hatidža Mehmedović

On the anniversary of the death of the late Hatidža Mehmedović, president of the Association "Mothers of Srebrenica", the deputy chairperson of the City Council Edina Gabela today, on behalf of the City of Sarajevo, paid tribute by reciting Fatiha and laying flowers at the memorial plaque on the fountain in Terzibašina Street in memory of this Bosnian heroine.

Last year, the City Council of Sarajevo, at the proposal of Mayor Abdulah Skaka, decided that the fountain near the Terzibašina mosque will henceforth be named the Fountain of Remembrance Terzibašina-Hatidža Mehmedović. All male members of the family of the late Hatidža Mehmedović were killed in the genocide in Srebrenica. This strong and brave woman fought daily for truth and justice, for the preservation of the memory of the genocide and the punishment of criminals.

It is up to all of us to cherish and preserve the memory of this great fighter and all that she advocated for until the last day of her life. Today, a tevhid will be recited in the Čaršija mosque in Srebrenica for the late Srebrenica mother, Hatidža Mehmedović.
