(Patria) - Marking the Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the City of Konjic has organized the opening of a new bridge over the Neretva River, connecting the Kolonija settlement with the City Stadium, sports fields, and swimming pools.
With the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, the new bridge was jointly opened by the Mayor of Konjic, Osman Ćatić, and representatives of the co-owners of the apartment buildings and the contractors, as announced by the City of Konjic.
- May this bridge be a symbol of our desire to create a more pleasant living environment for residents through continuous activities and new development projects. In this regard, in recent years, through regular meetings with citizens, we have strived to hear their observations, wishes, and opinions on how best to arrange the space around the residential buildings where they live. The Kolonija settlement, located on the banks of the Neretva River, which has been completely renovated with new roads, a new traffic regime, new underground containers, parking lots, new lighting, and new ornamental trees, has gained a new dimension of urban living with this bridge, enabling quality leisure time for all generations of Konjic residents who live here - said Mayor Ćatić.
He added that the construction of new bridges is also being prepared.
- This is one of the bridges we have built and are building in the current year, and the construction of new ones is in preparation. We are trying to implement previously planned development projects in parallel with projects related to the reconstruction of infrastructure in the flooded areas. We wanted to congratulate our fellow citizens on Bosnia and Herzegovina's Statehood Day in this way - said Ćatić.
He thanked the citizens for their cooperation during the preparation and implementation of the project to arrange that part of the city of Konjic.
- This bridge is a major step forward for our city and a good move for future activities. It is already being used extensively and will benefit all citizens for walks, as it connects two major promenades along the Neretva. We worked together with the City Administration on the preparation and implementation of this project through suggestions, and that means a lot to us - said Admir Kraljušić, a representative of the co-owners of one of the apartment buildings.
Alija Halebić and Emir Hadžajlija, also representatives of the co-owners of the other apartment buildings, did not hide their satisfaction with the work done.
- For us, the tenants in this part of the city, the bridge construction project and the arrangement of the ground floor around the apartment buildings mean a lot. Movement has been significantly eased, we have a renovated plateau and a completed promenade all the way to the Old Bridge and back. The swimming pools and the City Stadium, and all the facilities they offer, are now much closer for everyone. We thank the mayor for the invitation to the bridge opening on the occasion of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Statehood Day, especially because we were involved in the project from the beginning. May this bridge and its ceremonial opening bring good luck to us all – emphasized Emir Hadžajlija.
