City authorities in Boise, the capital of the state of Idaho, have declared May 9th as Bosnian Heritage Day, writes the BH News Agency Patria.
The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Cultural Center - Mladi behar exists in this city, where Bosnians and Herzegovinians gather and preserve the tradition of BiH through folklore and numerous other activities. Their goal is to bring together all Bosnians and Herzegovinians living in the city of Boise to pass on the tradition and spirit of Bosnia to younger generations.
On May 9th, this association will present BiH through folklore, traditional food that will be sold, music, and a small-scale football tournament will be organized. Bosnian Heritage Day will be held every second Saturday in May.
A presentation of Bosnian businesses across the country and workshops will also be held to allow Boise residents to learn more about BiH and the Balkans. According to Mladi behar, many BiH citizens have gone from refugees to managers, lawyers, doctors, and businessmen, and this is an opportunity for everyone to meet, socialize, and present themselves to the wider community.
Jasmina Dervišević Ćesić, author of a book about growing up in Višegrad and what the war did to that city in the heart of eastern Bosnia, has confirmed her attendance.
