
The City of Bijeljina and the INFOHOUSE Association, on behalf of the ACCOUNT Anti-Corruption Network, today signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in developing a strategy to combat corruption at the local level, reports the Patria News Agency.
The memorandum was signed in the Bijeljina City Hall by Mićo Mićić, Mayor of Bijeljina, and representatives of the INFOHOUSE Association. Bijeljina is the fifth local community to actively engage in the fight against corruption in cooperation with the non-governmental sector, by signing this type of memorandum which includes the formation of a joint working group, technical support, education, and information exchange.
A similar memorandum is yet to be signed with the city of Trebinje. The cooperation is being realized within the framework of activities carried out by ACCOUNT – a network of civil society organizations united in the fight against corruption. ACCOUNT brings together 160 members, and one of the Network's main goals is to strengthen the capacity and role of civil society organizations in the fight against corruption.
