Govedarica: Tegeltija should resign, regardless of whether he took the money or not

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - This country needs a Law on the Examination of the Origin of Property that will stipulate that not only politicians but also people from the judicial system should prove the origin of their property, stated the President of the Serbian Democratic Party, Vukota Govedarica, commenting on the latest affair involving Milan Tegeltija, the President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council.

"It is obvious that our judicial system is in the jaws of a corrupt political elite that wants to produce a society without a conscience. Regardless of whether Mr. Tegeltija ultimately took the money or not, I believe it is his moral obligation to resign," Govedarica stated.

The President of the SDS said that this is not the first affair in the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but that this is a test that will show whether we are a mature enough society for this to be the last affair in the judiciary.

"It is obvious that the judiciary is at a crossroads, whether it will take the path of overcoming the moral decadence of the society we live in, or whether we will all close our eyes and pretend that nothing happened," Govedarica said.

Govedarica said that the HJPC should have considered all details with a cool head before reaching its position on this matter.

"In a Scandinavian country where the Bosnian-Herzegovinian model of judicial reform was defined, it is unthinkable that the first man of the judiciary sits and talks with parties in proceedings before the judiciary of BiH. I do not even want to comment on politicians who, on a national basis, try to export their well-known story and try to protect this affair from a national aspect," Govedarica concluded.
