Anniversary of the Omarska camp massacre: No victim must be forgotten!

(Patria) - The 31st anniversary of the massacre in the Omarska camp near Prijedor was marked.

By reciting Fatiha and laying flowers in front of the White House, where unimaginable torture, rape, and killings of prisoners took place, the victims were also remembered by the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sevlid Hurtić.

He stated that this is a place where he empathizes with the suffering of those who were tortured and killed here during the past war. Hundreds of murdered civilians indicate that planned and systematic executions, exploitation, and rape were carried out here. This is a place where, due to the deprivation of basic life necessities, men and women were denied all human rights by men at that time.

In his speech, Minister Hurtić expressed words of support to the surviving camp inmates, stating that no one, ever, and nowhere should be subjected to such atrocities again, and that he expects all those involved in these crimes to be prosecuted as soon as possible.

"3334 registered camp inmates and about 2000 more who were not registered in the system, murdered children, Prijedor, Kozarac, Tomašica, Višegrad, Srebrenica, Ahmići - these are all facts and places where great crimes occurred and which we must remember.

Constantly warn and write books so that what happened is not forgotten. What is not recorded, regardless of the victim, threatens to be forgotten over time. We must not allow that," said Minister Hurtić.
