Anniversary of the destruction: A dive from the Old Bridge without applause

(Patria) - The 30th anniversary of the destruction of this architectural gem of Bosnia and Herzegovina was marked on the Old Bridge in Mostar. After the air raid siren sounded, one of the divers performed a dive from the Old Bridge into the Neretva River without applause.

Numerous citizens and school students gathered on the bridge, marking the anniversary of the destruction of the Old Bridge by throwing flowers into the Neretva River.

After two days of shelling from HVO positions, the stone arch that had connected the banks of the Neretva for centuries collapsed on November 9, 1993, at 10:16 a.m. The destruction and collapse of the Old Bridge were captured on camera.

The Old Bridge, 24 meters high at its highest point, was rebuilt and opened in July 2004, and in 2005 it was inscribed on the UNESCO list of protected cultural monuments.
