SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The session of the SDA Main Board will be held today, and the agenda includes the current political situation, implementation of election results, and amendments to the SDA Statute which should be addressed by this body.
The key amendment to the Statute concerns local SDA organizations, proposing the abolition of cantonal, city, and municipal boards. The proposal is to form only executive boards and assemblies at the local level instead. Such an amendment could be foreseen from the statements of SDA President Bakir Izetbegović that they are "too large and sluggish" and that they are failing to re-register their membership.
Another key amendment stipulates that the Main Board and Presidency shall include representatives of all constituent peoples and Others, while the party leadership itself (president, vice-presidents, president of the Main Board and his deputies, general secretary) must include at least one representative of each constituent people and Others.
Similarly, the proposed Statute amendments provide for a larger number of women and youth in the party leadership.
How ready the SDA truly is to reform itself will be shown at today's Main Board session, as well as at the upcoming Congress on September 14, when over 1,300 delegates are expected to elect the SDA president and vote on the Statute.
