SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A session of the Main Committee of SDA is being held in Sarajevo, where, in addition to the current political situation, amendments to the Statute are being considered, which foresee numerous changes in the functioning of the SDA and at the very top of the party. SDA President Bakir Izetbegović said that they will not abandon the Bosniak agenda, but that they are moving towards a Bosnian party.
"We will work to give young people more space, to give women more space, to prevent the accumulation of functions, to prevent someone from remaining indefinitely in the position of president at one level. There will be enough room for new energy," said Izetbegović.
The Statute amendments stipulate that the Main Committee and the Presidency include members of all constituent peoples and Others, while among the party leadership (president, vice-presidents, president of the Main Committee and his deputies, secretary general) there must be at least one representative of each constituent people and Others.
The Statute also provides for the abolition of the position of deputy president and an increase in the number of vice-presidents from eight to nine.
