(Patria) - The Islamic Community Council of Kiseljak has released disturbing information according to which the police in this town are sending summons for questioning to citizens who celebrated the great victory of the BiH national team over Italy.
“These days, great celebration and euphoria reign throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina after our national team's victory over Italy and qualification for the World Cup. This is a moment of pride and joy for all citizens.
However, in Kiseljak, we are witnessing something that causes indignation. According to available information, some citizens have received summons for questioning due to 'excessive celebration'. The convoys of vehicles and the joy, which was realistically spontaneous and sincere, have become a nuisance,” states the announcement signed by Kenan ef. Bajrić, Chief Imam in Kiseljak.
“If people are indeed to be punished for celebrating, the question arises – does the law apply equally to everyone? Will the same standards be applied in other similar situations? Will every wedding, every celebration, every convoy of vehicles be reported? Or does the law only apply when it is necessary to react to some, while for others eyes are closed?
Ef. Bajrić states that he himself has often had the opportunity to report irresponsible behavior – throwing garbage and bottles by wedding guests passing through the main road in the courtyard of the Šehidska mosque in Han Ploča.
“I didn’t do it. I would pick up the trash because I didn’t want to escalate tensions further. But some things can no longer be left unsaid.
People cannot be punished for joy while at the same time turning a blind eye to much more serious problems and incidents. The law must be the same for everyone. If it is not – then it loses its meaning.
The citizens of Kiseljak already have too many problems: from urban planning and permits to bills and basic services. Therefore, if protests occur, they will not be solely due to one incident, but due to accumulated dissatisfaction.
It is time for things to start being resolved equally and justly for everyone,” stated the Chief Imam.
