(Patria) - The Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team has begun preparations for the World Cup in Sarajevo, and Benjamin Tahirović addressed the media today, revealing his expectations before heading to the major competition.
A friendly match against North Macedonia will be played at Koševo on Friday. After that, the team travels to America for a friendly match against Panama on June 6, followed by participation in the World Cup.
Our midfielder first touched upon the new jerseys, which were officially presented this morning and will be worn by the Dragons at the World Cup.
"I like both the home and away jerseys based on the pictures I've seen," said Tahirović.
He also stated that he still hasn't fully grasped the success the team achieved by qualifying for this major competition.
"I would still say I don't 100 percent understand the success we've achieved, but you can feel the atmosphere that there's something special. We are all extremely positive and happy to be here. It's evident in training that it's already very intense and that we are all here with one goal. Our biggest motivation is for everyone to prepare and gel for the World Cup."
When asked how much such a result has brought the Dragons closer, Tahirović said that each match brought something special.
"When the results are positive, it's easier to move on from everything and go into the next match. The Nations League created that core group for us and that mentality. The situation in the club? I think it's time for the national team. We are all here with positive energy and smiles, this is something special for all of us. We respect everyone in the group, but we have no fear of any national team," said Tahirović.
Armin Gigović said it is a great honor for him to be with the national team.
"We are preparing for the friendly against Macedonia and then for what awaits us in America."
Speaking about the World Cup matches, Gigović said they will take it game by game.
"I have rested well for a few days and feel good both mentally and physically, and I am ready to give my hundred percent for what awaits us."
At 5:00 PM, the BiH national team will hold a training session at the FK Sarajevo Training Center in Butmir, which will be open to the media for the first 15 minutes.
