(Patria) - On Galica, near Travnik, today in the presence of numerous officials, citizens and veterans of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the central part of the manifestation “Days of Victory, Days of Pride 2025” was held, which is being realized under the organization of municipal and partner institutions, with the support of veterans' associations, educational institutions and security services.
The ceremony began with the laying of flowers and paying tribute to the fighters of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the memorial, and the program continued on the plateau in front of the Turbe Mountain Lodge, where a tactical-technical gathering of security, rescue and educational-sports services was held.
The manifestation began on August 3 at Ljut Greda, while today's closing ceremony was dedicated to the culture of remembrance and intergenerational connection through education and patriotic content. According to the words of the President of the Organizing Committee and Mayor of Travnik Municipality Kenan Dautović, both events form a whole, symbolically connecting the combat path and its value message for future generations.
“Today, units that set out from this place in 1995 for the operation to liberate Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered here. This is truly a holiday for the entire country. We are especially pleased with the inclusion of students from the first grade of elementary school to the fourth grade of high school, through extracurricular activities dedicated to the culture of remembrance. The children had the opportunity to meet war veterans, who are also their closest family members, grandfathers, fathers, uncles. There is no better lesson for young people than this,” said Dautović.
One of the central moments of the ceremony was the symbolic handover of war flags between veterans and the youth, which was also attended by the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić.
“This is probably the strongest message we can send, that the generation to which I also belong, the generation that gave everything it could to this country, today passes that honor and obligation to those who come. With the hope that what happened to us will never happen again, but also with a clear message that the youth are ready to preserve the values that these war flags symbolize,” stated Komšić.
War commander of the Fifth Battalion of the 312th Mountain Brigade Ismet Čogić – Gari reminded of the historical significance of this area.
“The liberation of Bosnia and Herzegovina started from here. There are fewer and fewer of us veterans, but we are passing on our memories and messages to the youth. I am glad we gathered, remembered those days and the people who are no longer with us,” said Čogić.
During the tactical-technical gathering, the Armed Forces of BiH, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Central Bosnia Canton, Civil Protection, the Mountain Rescue Service, the Travnik Health Center, the Professional Firefighting Unit, the Red Cross, as well as numerous mountaineering, shooting, airsoft, paintball, auto and sports associations presented their capabilities and equipment. Visitors, especially students, had the opportunity to participate in educational workshops, demonstrations and interactive content.
The organizers emphasized that the goal of the manifestation is the preservation of the culture of remembrance, affirmation of patriotic values and strengthening awareness among young people about the importance of freedom, unity, security and social responsibility.
