Qatar Airways is one of the world's largest airlines. They are called world-class in air transport. Back in 2009, talks began about a possible direct airline Doha – Sarajevo, writes the Patria news agency.
One of the most powerful airlines in the world offered the possibility of signing a state protocol between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar to enable this direct line. Everything was done by Qatar Airways and the state of Qatar to make this happen.
The protocol was submitted for signature to the Bosnian side, but this did not happen. A high official of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Bosnia and Herzegovina promised that the Protocol would be signed by the end of 2013. Three years have already passed, but the protocol has apparently been lost in some drawers of this Ministry. If this country is degraded on such a formality, then even the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina would have to seek someone's responsibility.
The case has become relevant again these days, after the highest delegation of Qatar, led by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, visited Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was an exceptional opportunity for Bosnia and Herzegovina, to whom the Qatari sovereign promised the establishment of a special development fund.
The sovereign of the richest country comes to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, and our authorities are unable to formalize a protocol that would enable direct flights between the two countries. The reason for this is the friendship that Qatar has always shown towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also the rare activity of the current Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Qatar, headed by Ambassador Tarik Sadović.
The establishment of the direct Doha - Sarajevo line is important for many reasons. Namely, Qataris love Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in the past year alone, about 15 thousand tourists from this country visited our country.
They came via Turkey, without a direct line, transferring on unsafe airlines. A good part of these tourists traveled to Bosnia by bus lines.
Qatar Airways, on behalf of this long-awaited line, twice held a competition in Sarajevo for the selection of flight attendants. The last time it did so was in August 2012, waiting for the promised signature of the Protocol.
The cabin crew of the Qatari airline are considered the best representatives of their state. The authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, however, are unable to put the most basic signature on this business.
