Gastro guide declared baklava 'queen of desserts', Bosnian rose pastries also featured

(Patria) - The renowned gastro guide Taste Atlas, via its Facebook and Instagram social media accounts, dedicated a post to the end of Ramadan fasting and the arrival of Eid by publishing a photo featuring baklava.

Namely, on the official Taste Atlas accounts on Thursday, March 19, a photo was posted showcasing various types of this dessert from around the world, including those from Turkey, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented by rose pastries.

"As the sun sets and the fast officially ends, there is one legendary dessert that must be present on every table – the ultimate queen of desserts known simply as baklava," the photo caption stated.

Today, Taste Atlas also features a post dedicated to dishes traditionally served to guests during Eid.

"Across the Islamic world, celebrations traditionally begin with something sweet like dates and strong coffee to gently awaken the digestive system. In the Middle East and Central Asia, meals are often served on huge communal platters where entire families sit together and eat from the same dishes, symbolizing deep unity and absolute equality. Meanwhile, in regions like the Balkans and Turkey, serving incredibly complex pastries that require a lot of work is a sign of respect and hospitality," the photo caption stated.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is "represented" in this category by roasted meat, baklava, begova čorba, burek, sarma, japrak, tufahije, hurmašice, ružice, and bosanski lonac.
