
(Patria) - Two firefighting helicopters from Serbia have arrived at Tjentište, where they will join the operation to extinguish the large fire at the Sutjeska National Park site.
At the Tjentište site, a centuries-old coniferous forest has been burning since Saturday, and due to the alarming situation, helicopters from Serbia will assist the helicopters of the Helicopter Service of the Republika Srpska and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as firefighters, Civil Protection members, and workers of the Sutjeska National Park in extinguishing the fire.
Boban Kusturić, director of the Helicopter Service of the Republika Srpska, said that two helicopters from Serbia are joining the firefighting effort in the Sutjeska National Park and that he expects a major operation to be carried out at the fire site today.
He also said that immediately upon arriving at the scene on the first day, he knew that international assistance would be needed to extinguish the fire.
