(Patria) - Due to new precipitation, increased water inflow from watercourses upstream and downstream of the Modrac accumulation, as well as the release of larger quantities of water from the accumulation itself, an additional rise in the water level at the Karanovac Hydrological Station is expected today and tomorrow, which may lead to flooding of land and facilities along the Spreča river. Given the expected amount of precipitation, a rise in the water level of the Sava river is also expected during the next week.
The statement from the Federal Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ) cites forecasts according to which extraordinary hydrological conditions are expected from April 4 to 7 due to elevated water levels and possible floods in the middle and lower course of the Spreča river.
The notice on the forecast of extraordinary hydrological conditions applies to the area of Tuzla Canton, specifically the cities of Gračanica and Lukavac, and the municipality of Doboj Istok.
FUCZ suggests that competent institutions monitor the situation on the ground and act in accordance with their authorities, and recommends increased caution to services implementing measures and activities for the protection and rescue of people and material goods.
Competent civil protection services are advised to warn the population about the danger of approaching riverbanks, considering the possible increase in water depth and flow speed in the rivers, and to provide timely information with instructions so that the population can take self-protection measures in time.
