(Patria) - While police agencies in several European countries, according to media reports, are reviewing photographs and videos from the recent concert of Marko Perković Thompson in Zagreb, a photograph has surfaced that raises uncomfortable questions in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well.
Namely, a member of the Judicial Police of the Federation of BiH, Damir Pintarić from Novi Travnik, was captured enjoying the fascist tones of the HDZ singer. What particularly draws attention is his choice of clothing – a T-shirt with the coat of arms of “Herceg-Bosna”, a symbol of the joint criminal project whose leadership was convicted before the International Tribunal in The Hague.
The Patria Agency obtained a photograph of Pintarić from the concert in Sinj, which clearly shows Pintarić among the audience, smiling and relaxed, while Thompson's lyrics, for which the singer has been criticized for years for glorifying Ustasha ideology, echo from the stage.
Interestingly, this is a police officer who was awarded by his institution in 2022 with a relief emblem and a letter of commendation. Thus, whether we want to admit it or not, the question arises of how professional honor and public interest align with public appearances at events marked by messages and symbols that a democratic society should reject, not tolerate.
This is all the more so because Pintarić is paid by taxpayers who themselves, along with their families, survived the war crimes of the UZP Herceg-Bosna.
At the very least, it would be mandatory for the authorities in the FBiH Judicial Police to investigate Pintarić's attendance at the concert of a fascist singer and to initiate disciplinary proceedings.
