FK Sarajevo: Pitch reconstruction project at Koševo Stadium successfully completed

(Patria) - The Football Federation of BiH, in a joint investment with the Centar Sarajevo Municipality and FK Sarajevo, has successfully completed the project of complete turf reconstruction at the Olympic Stadium "Asim Ferhatović - Hase".

This project has created a representative pitch ready for hosting top-tier international football events, which was the primary goal of this undertaking.

The reconstruction included the installation of new turf with a drainage filter layer and the integration of hybrid fibers, providing optimal conditions for a high-quality playing field.

The pitch is equipped with a state-of-the-art under-heating system, which will enable uninterrupted sports activities even during the winter period. The total investment amounted to over 2.5 million convertible marks.

FK Sarajevo's sports department emphasizes that the pitch at the Olympic Stadium "Asim Ferhatović - Hase" is one of the best in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and even in the region.

This is confirmed by the fact that the pitch is currently in excellent condition despite adverse weather conditions and has successfully withstood the games and all challenges of the spring part of the 2022/23 season and the autumn part of the 2023/24 season.

FK Sarajevo would like to take this opportunity to thank the Centar Municipality for their cooperation and full support in the realization of this project.

"The Centar Municipality has fulfilled its obligation to pay the final installment according to the contract with the Football Federation of BiH, as per the previously signed agreement between the three mentioned parties.

The Football Federation will, during the day today, transfer these funds to the account of FK Sarajevo, which will further invest these funds in the additional equipping of the stadium's transformer station and the activation of the heating system, so that the turf can withstand the upcoming snowy weather and announced low temperatures, and be ready for new challenges in the upcoming spring season of the BiH Premier League.

FK Sarajevo wishes to express its gratitude to all stakeholders: the Football Federation of BiH, the Centar Municipality and its Mayor Srđan Mandić, all councilors of the Centar Municipality and the Public Institution 'Centar for Sport and Recreation', and everyone who participated and contributed their human efforts to realize this project, so that the Olympic Stadium 'Asim Ferhatović - Hase' finally gets a representative pitch for playing all matches.

During the realization of this project, we want to state that we encountered numerous challenges and problems that led to the extension of the works and their completion.

Much effort and hard work were invested to resolve all arising situations and to enable our first team to finally return home to their home pitch.

The interest of FK Sarajevo, and we hope of all the aforementioned parties, is to continue improving the infrastructure of the Koševo Stadium in 2024, which will provide a more pleasant environment for all fans and visitors of the Olympic Stadium 'Asim Ferhatović Hase'.

In 2024, we expect full support from all mentioned parties to elevate Koševo Stadium to Category 4 according to UEFA regulations.

Koševo Stadium represents a significant infrastructure project that requires substantial investment, but we hope that with joint efforts, we can create more modern conditions in line with UEFA standards, which will result in better conditions and a more exciting atmosphere for fans, as well as increased attendance and presence at home matches.
