Financing of Election Campaigns – Law and Practice

Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) is organizing a Regional Conference on Financing of Election Campaigns – Law and Practice, dedicated to the transparency of financing of political parties and election campaigns, and comparing regional experiences in this area with Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Patria News Agency.

The Conference will present reports on the election campaign for the General Elections in BiH in 2014, where the results of the election campaign monitoring will be compared with the financial reports submitted by the parties to the Central Election Commission.

Discussions will also cover recommendations for improving the legal framework in order to enable greater transparency of election campaigns, as well as prevent the abuse of public resources for pre-election promotion.

The Conference is expected to be attended by representatives of the legislative and executive authorities in BiH, political parties, the Central Election Commission of BiH, civil society and media from BiH, as well as representatives of the Anti-Corruption Agency of Serbia, and organizations from the region dealing with campaign finance monitoring.

The Conference will be held on March 30, 2015, starting at 10:00 AM at the Hotel Europe in Sarajevo.
