Finances in a quandary, representatives on vacation: Will there be an emergency session of the Assembly by the end of August due to KS's illiquidity

(Patria) - After the KS Government adopted a conclusion on austerity measures due to insufficient inflow of funds into the Sarajevo Canton Budget, it was expected that an emergency session of the KS Assembly would be requested.

However, it is the holiday season, and the reaction of opposition representatives, who were supposed to request the holding of a KS Assembly session to discuss the liquidity of Sarajevo Canton, has been absent.

On the other hand, the KS Government should soon consider the option of rebalancing the KS Budget in order to stabilize financial flows until the end of this year, as it is evident that the adopted Budget of 1.88 billion KM is unrealistic and that money must be allocated differently.

We remind you that after the session on August 4, the KS Government ordered the suspension of recruitment competitions, except for essential positions, the extension of agreed payment deadlines, and the reduction of procurements, travel expenses, contracted and other services.

The KS Ministry of Finance warned that a deficit of 179.2 million KM was realized in 2024, which also affected current liquidity.

Minister Afan Kalamujić warned that the execution of the planned budget for 2025 will not be fully realized.
