Fića Fest Sarajevo: Owners Celebrate 64th Birthday of the Tin Pets

SARAJEVO, (Patria) –  This year's Fića Fest features 87 owners of the popular "Fića" who have come from BiH, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy. During the morning parade, participants greeted the people of Sarajevo, and in the afternoon they will head towards Wilson's Promenade, stopping at the monument to the murdered children of Sarajevo where they will lay flowers.

Fadil Ćerimagć, the organizer of Fića Fest, said that this year they have four female crews from Montenegro, Croatia, and BiH.

„Among the awards we will give for the youngest, oldest, prettiest, and ugliest Fića, we also have an award for the most distant destination. This year, one Fića came from Switzerland,“ said Ćerimagć, emphasizing that the event is more visited each year with more participants.

Participants of Fića Fest are celebrating the 64th birthday of the tin pet today, and a cake has been prepared for the occasion.

Among the participants of Fića Fest is Tihomir Šunić from Banja Luka, who has owned a Fića produced in 1967 for 25 years.

„I have been coming to Fića Fest in Sarajevo for three years now. I actively drive it and came from Banja Luka with it. This is a nice event where we socialize, people take pictures because it is very unique to see so many Fićas in one place,“ said Šunić.

The Fića or Zastava 750 began production under license from FIAT based on the FIAT 600 model, designed by FIAT's chief engineer Dante Giacosa. According to many results, the FIAT 600 is still the most successful model in the history of this brand. In the first five years of production, one million vehicles were sold. This car model was produced not only in Italy but also in Argentina, Austria, Spain, and Yugoslavia.
The event was supported by the Stari Grad Municipality, and Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić visited this unique exhibition. A large number of tourists, predominantly Chinese, took photos with the Fićas in Baščaršija.
