Festival of Bosnian Drama Zenica 2026 Postponed to September

(Patria) - The Organizing Committee of the XXV Festival of Bosnian Drama Zenica 2026 announced today that this year's festival edition, planned for May, will be postponed and held in September.

As the public is already aware, the play "Za život cijeli" was cancelled due to increased security risk.

The Festival Organizing Committee received information that the play by the National Theatre in Mostar, which was planned as part of the Competition Program, will not be able to perform at the festival due to the health condition of an actor from the play's cast.

Due to the inability to access the scenography, the play "Na slovo F" by the National Theatre Sarajevo cannot be performed at the scheduled festival time, while Kamerni teatar 55 with its play "Tebe ljubi duša moja" had previously cancelled its participation due to the inability to coordinate the dates with the duration of the Festival of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Drama.

In accordance with all of the above, out of seven selected plays in the Competition Program, only three can currently be performed.

Considering the importance and continuity of the Festival of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Drama, as well as the responsibility towards artists, the audience, and all festival partners, the Organizing Committee has decided that the XXV Festival of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Drama Zenica 2026 will be postponed to September.

At that time, as announced, the Festival will be realized at full capacity and in accordance with the program standards that this event has continuously maintained for twenty-five years.

"We believe that this decision is the only responsible and professional one at this moment, and we thank all participants, partners, institutions, and the audience for their understanding, support, and patience.

The public will be informed in a timely manner about the new festival dates and the festival program.

Tickets purchased for the festival performances can be returned every day from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Marketing and Sales Department of the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica, while money for tickets purchased through the online sales system Karter.ba will be automatically refunded," the statement from the Organizing Committee of the XXV Festival of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Drama Zenica 2026 added.
