Femicide as a special criminal offense before the delegates of the House of Peoples

(Patria) - Delegates of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH are expected today at a session in Sarajevo to consider, under urgent procedure, the Bill on Debt, Borrowing and Guarantees in the Federation of BiH.

The need to adopt a new Law on Debt, Borrowing and Guarantees in the Federation of BiH arises from several key reasons, aimed at stabilizing public finances, increasing transparency and efficiency of debt management, and aligning with international standards.

One of the key goals of the new law is to increase the transparency of the borrowing and guarantee issuance process, and to establish stricter financial discipline not only at the federal level, but also at the level of cantons, cities, and municipalities.

The adoption of the new law is in line with the recommendations of international financial institutions, primarily the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which emphasize the importance of a modern and comprehensive legal framework for public debt management.

Also on the proposed agenda is the Bill amending and supplementing the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH, which is the result of the campaign "We Will Not Die in Silence", led by the organization "Glas žene" (Woman's Voice) from Bihać for the past 11 months and colloquially called the law on femicide because it treats the murder of a female person as a special criminal offense.

Delegates are also expected to consider the Bill amending and supplementing the Law on Petroleum Products in the Federation of BiH and the Draft Law on Gas of the Federation of BiH, it was announced from the Parliament of the Federation of BiH.

The Draft Law on Gas was adopted by the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH on May 28 and aims to implement energy policy in the natural gas sector - ensuring secure supply of natural gas to customers according to defined quality standards and affordable prices.

According to the proposed agenda, delegates of the House of Peoples are expected to consider the Bill on the City of Kiseljak, which was supported by the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH on May 29, which would grant the current municipality of Kiseljak the status of a city.
