Federation of BiH: 75 percent fewer tourists in March compared to last year

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The total number of tourist arrivals in March 2020 in the FBiH was 16,186, which is 75 percent less compared to March 2019, and compared to February 2020, it is 63.1 percent less.

The share of domestic tourists is 40.3 percent, and foreign tourists is 59.7 percent, according to the statement from the FBiH Statistics Office.

The total number of tourist overnight stays in the FBiH in March 2020 was 31,881, which is 72.6 percent less compared to March 2019, and compared to February 2020, it is 61.2 percent less. The share of domestic tourists is 40.1 percent, and foreign tourists is 59.9 percent. By type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was achieved within the type 'Hotels and similar accommodation', with a share of 92.4 percent.

In the structure of foreign tourist overnight stays, tourists from Croatia (16.6 percent), Serbia (8.9 percent), Turkey (6.3 percent), North Macedonia (5.2 percent), and Germany (4.4 percent) accounted for the most overnight stays, totaling 41.4 percent. Tourists from other countries accounted for 58.6 percent of overnight stays. The number of available beds in March 2020 in the FBiH was 19,672, which is 32.5 percent less compared to March 2019.

The net bed occupancy rate for the 'Hotels and similar accommodation' type in the Federation of BiH was 7.3 percent.
