Federation of BiH: 10 out of 426 samples positive for COVID-19

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the past 24 hours, 426 samples were tested in the Federation of BiH, of which 10 people tested positive for COVID-19.

"So far, 9957 have been tested for COVID-19 and the coronavirus has been confirmed in 739 people. Women have fallen ill slightly more often. Number of infected by cantons: HNK 227 infected, KS 99, ZDK 98, TK 82, ZHK 75, USK 66, Canton 10 36, SBK 33, BPK 20, Posavski kanton 3. There are 67 patients in hospital treatment and 9 are on ventilators. 

To date, 115 patients have recovered, and 30 people have died from COVID-19. 

He adds that two-thirds of those infected are over 65 years old.

When asked if there is a plan for serological testing, Pehar answers that mass serological testing is not foreseen at this stage of the epidemic. He adds that serological testing will be used at a later stage. 

Responding to the statement that a decrease in infections has been recorded for several days, Pehar replied that the measures were timely and that the number of patients was within expected limits. 

"It is still too early to talk about the end of the epidemic. I think we will have to learn to live with the coronavirus in the next few months. The number of infected will depend on all of us," he added.

Answering the question whether the Federation of BiH has a ready response to a new wave of coronavirus, Pehar said that it will depend on all of us.
