Fazlić: Someone is deliberately extinguishing the City of Sarajevo as a local self-government unit

Regarding the consideration of the Proposal of the Budget of the City of Sarajevo for 2015 by the Committee for Social Affairs of the Sarajevo City Council, Samir Fazlić, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, spoke out, writes the Patria news agency.

Fazlić believes that the implementation of the given proposal is completely uncertain, because the revenue planned from the Sarajevo Canton in the amount of about 6 million has not been incorporated into the cantonal budget at all.

-The question arises as to how Sarajevo, as an administrative and cultural center, as the capital of BiH, can function at all, because the Sarajevo Canton already has an obligation to settle in the amount of about 3.5 million KM.

Is the city of Sarajevo as a local self-government unit being deliberately destroyed, and in whose interest is that? The Committee is of the opinion that the city leadership has done nothing to get the matter off the ground, i.e., to refer to the competent bodies of the Federation to amend the Law on the Allocation of Public Revenues, and to ensure adequate revenues for the City of Sarajevo, said Fazlić.

He added that a campaign should be urgently launched to resolve the constitutional and legal position of the City of Sarajevo as the capital of BiH and the Federation of BiH, and the local self-government of its citizens, because otherwise, the position of the city of Sarajevo will become excessively complicated.
