Fare Network welcomes decision of Football Association of BiH to sanction NK Široki Brijeg

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After Football Club Široki Brijeg was punished because fans of this club glorified convicted war criminal Slobodan Praljak, the International network
for anti-discrimination and inclusion in football, Fare Network from London (an institutional partner of FIFA and UEFA), welcomed the decision of the Disciplinary Commission of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina to sanction
this club by closing the north stand at Pecara for the next three matches and a symbolic fine of 3,000 KM, according to a statement from Fare Network.

"The interruption of the match, formal sanctions, and any form of public condemnation of the propagation of fascism
and war criminals in stadiums may not be a sufficiently serious material warning to the clubs that bear responsibility, but they are very important to state as loudly as possible that football is not a place for propagating such norms and to direct responsibility",
stated Fare Network Executive Director Piara Powar.

The Disciplinary Commission of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina punished NK Široki Brijeg because fans of the Pecara club displayed a banner of support and a photograph of convicted war criminal Slobodan Praljak during the 18th round match of the Premier League of BiH against Zvijezda 09.

Thus, the north stand of the Pecara stadium will be closed for the next three matches, and Široki will pay a fine of 3,000 KM.
