Fadil Novalić to prison, Jelka to a new position: Milićević new deputy director of the FBiH Banking Agency?

(Patria) - Jelka Milićević, the former federal finance minister who was the only one acquitted in the Respirators case, will be the new deputy director of the Banking Agency of the Federation of BiH, according to Istraga.ba.

She is expected to be appointed from the quota of the HDZ BiH, as we have learned.

“The director and deputy director of the Banking Agency of the Federation of BiH, following a previously conducted public competition procedure in accordance with the law, are appointed by the Parliament of the Federation of BiH upon the proposal of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a period of four years, with the possibility of appointment for two consecutive terms,” stated in Article 22, paragraph (2) of the Law on the Banking Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The FBiH Government, according to the announcement in the Official Gazette of FBiH, appointed on March 13 this year a Commission for conducting the procedure for selecting candidates for the election and nomination for the appointment of the deputy director of the FBiH Banking Agency.

The Commission that will select Jelka Milićević

“A Commission is appointed for conducting the procedure for selecting candidates for the election and nomination for the appointment of the deputy director of the Banking Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, composed of: Asim Pandžić, president; Sanja Zadro, member; Medina Dudo, member; Arijana Huseinović – Ajanović, member; Marica Bulić, member. For performing professional and administrative-technical tasks for the needs of the Commission, Dženana Redžić is designated. The task of the Commission is to, after the closure of the public competition, review the applications received for the competition, compile a shortlist of candidates who meet the criteria for nomination for appointment, if necessary collect additional information about the candidates, conduct interviews with the candidates, and thereafter propose to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina a ranking list with the best candidates for further consideration,” stated in the Decision of the FBiH Government of March 13.

This Commission, as we have learned, has the obligation to compile a list of candidates according to which the former HDZ finance minister Jelka Milićević will be the highest ranked, after which the FBiH Government will submit a proposal to the FBiH Parliament that she be appointed as deputy director of the FBiH Banking Agency.

Let us recall, Jelka Milićević was one of the accused in the Respirators case. The BiH Prosecutor's Office then stated that Jelka Milićević was charged with committing the criminal offense of negligent work in office because, by consciously violating laws and other regulations, she enabled the procurement of respirators, and then by failing to fulfill her legally prescribed duties, she did not prevent the occurrence of harmful consequences. In addition to Jelka Milićević, due to the procurement of respirators, the Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against the then Prime Minister of FBiH Fadil Novalić, the then director of the Federal Civil Protection Administration Fahrudin Solak, and the owner of Srebrena malina Fikret Hodžić. However, the Court of BiH acquitted the HDZ minister, while Novalić, Hodžić, and Solak were sentenced to four, five, and six years in prison, respectively. While Novalić, Hodžić, and Solak are already serving their sentences, Jelka Milićević is preparing to take on a new position.
