2016 European Football Championship to be held in France after all?

The 2016 European Football Championship, to be held in France, should not be cancelled following the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, which killed 129 people and injured more than 350, writes the BBC, reports the BH news agency Patria. The Islamic State (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attacks.

EURO 2016 organiser Jacques Lambert said that the risk existed in January when several terrorist attacks were carried out in Paris, and that it is now even greater. At that time, the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, a Jewish shop, and a policewoman were attacked, and 18 people were killed.

- We will take all necessary decisions to ensure that Euro 2016 is held under the best security conditions. Security at the stadiums is working well, but the risk is on the streets during spontaneous gatherings - said Lambert.

Otherwise, the final match of Euro 2016 is scheduled to be held on July 10, 2016, at the Stade de France, near which an explosion occurred on Friday, killing several people. The French President Francois Hollande was also at the stadium and was evacuated; a friendly match between Germany and France was supposed to be played there.
