European Judo Championship for Cadets Starts Today in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The European Judo Championship starts today in Sarajevo. The Olympic Hall "Juan Antonio Samaranch" will be the venue for the next four days where the most promising young judokas will fight for the title of the best on the Old Continent.

Led by Dejan Ćupa and Hadis Ramić, a total of 20 competitors will represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the EC, ten in the men's and ten in the women's competition.

In the first round of the up to 50 kg category, our Filip Burić will face Yuri Israelyan from Armenia. Nikola Moravac in the up to 55 kg category will also compete against Styopi Darbinyan from Armenia, while Igor Đurica in the up to 60 kg category will face Enes Uysal from Turkey.

Darijan Faletar (-66 kg), who has a bye in the first round, will fight against Irish representative Anthony Vanukevich in the next round, and the first opponent for Ivan Jozeljić (-73 kg) will be Giovanni Zaraca from Italy.

Arnaud Aregba from France will be the first obstacle for David Čečura in the up to 81 kg category, while Srđan Ajvaz in the up to 90 kg category will compete against Vince Klijsen from the Netherlands. Igor Vračar (+90 kg) will fight against Yves Nadaa from Belgium in the first round of the EC.

Gordana Ilić (-48 kg) will face Rou Gyertyas from Hungary.

In the up to 52 kg category, Mia Petrović will seek advancement to the next round against Eda Karademir from Turkey, while Ana Marija Franjić in the same category will face Veronica Toniolo from Italy.

In the first round of the up to 57 kg category, our Maja Bjelica will not have an easy task against Iana Zhilkina from Russia, while Ema Brkanić's opponent will be Lisa Grabner from Austria.

In the women's up to 63 kg category, Josipa Brvenik will compete against Emily Cooper from Great Britain, and Džana Kovačević against Szofi Ozbas from Hungary.

Andreia Serrao from Portugal will be the first obstacle for Anđela Jurić in the up to 70 kg category. In the over 70 kg category, Vesna Vukoja will fight against Ruslana Bulavina from Ukraine, while Hana Piralić's opponent will be Alina Pastalouskaya from Belarus.
