Eurasian Forum in Istanbul: International fight against ISIL needed

Participants of the 18th Eurasian Forum, including former and current presidents of several countries, emphasized the need for an international fight against ISIL, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Former Turkish President Abdullah Gul said that cooperation among countries in the region is necessary.

ISIL is a phenomenon that is the result of despair, injustice, poverty, and lack of education. It is not enough to defeat it only through military actions.

Former Albanian President Bamir Topi also highlighted the danger of ISIL, stressing that bilateral and international cooperation is needed both in the region and in Europe.

The Eurasian Forum is organized annually with the active participation of national and international decision-makers and experts from the fields of economy, politics, energy, sociology, and security.

ISIL was also discussed by President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović, President of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov, as well as former Bulgarian President Petar Stoyanov, former Czech President Vaclav Klaus, former Serbian President Boris Tadić, former Slovenian President Danilo Türk...

The summit was held from April 7 to 9 in Istanbul, and Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by the President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Marinko Čavara, who said that ISIL has also sparked Islamophobia and xenophobia in Europe.
